Police recover stolen Toyota Camry in Ogun, arrest one suspect

The Ogun State Police Command has recovered a stolen 2016 Toyota Camry after less than eight hours following its theft report, arresting one suspect in the process. The vehicle, belonging to an Indian national based in Ilupeju Industrial Estate, Lagos, was allegedly taken by his driver, Waidi Olaide Kolawale, on September 9, 2026.

Kolawale had been employed by his employer for only two days before allegedly taking the vehicle to a vulcaniser for tyre repair and subsequently fleeing with it. The police tracked the vehicle to a hotel in Ifo, Lagos, where they arrested Kolawale and his accomplice, Monday Adetunji, upon his apprehension. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects attempted to remove the vehicle's catalyst but were denied by a mechanic.

The police emphasized the success of their proactive, technology-driven approach to policing, urging citizens to install tracking devices and adopt additional anti-theft measures while reporting suspicious activities promptly.
