Poland Will Not Block The Opening Of Clusters In Ukraine’s EU Accession Negotiations — Sikorski

Poland has announced it will not obstruct the commencement of European Union legislative cluster discussions with Ukraine, according to Radosław Sikorski, the nation's Foreign Minister. Sikorski conveyed this message during a combined press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Kyiv, as reported by UATV English.

In his remarks, Sikorski emphasized that while the process of Ukraine joining the European Union would not be a straightforward endeavor, just as it was not when Poland itself became a member, Poland would not impede the opening of these negotiation clusters. He did not, however, imply that these clusters would be opened hastily.

Sikorski revealed that Ukraine, as per the European Commission's assessment, is currently ready for these discussions. The Foreign Minister also voiced optimism regarding Ukraine's potential completion of implementing the Association Agreement, particularly the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA). This development could enable Ukraine to become part of the EU's single market even prior to formal accession, Sikorski explained.
