PKR women’s wing questions Zahid’s stance on political stability

In a statement released today, PKR women’s wing chief Nurhidayah Che Rose has questioned Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s recent call for Barisan Nasional to either withdraw from the unity government or for Parliament to be dissolved. Nurhidayah said Zahid’s stance seemed to contradict his previous assurances that the National Front (BN) remained committed to maintaining political stability until the conclusion of the parliamentary term.

"Just a few days ago, he emphasized the BN’s commitment to political stability until the end of the term. However, his tone has changed today," Nurhidayah remarked. According to Nurhidayah, political stability should not be used as a bargaining chip in negotiations between parties. She argued that if national stability is indeed the top priority, it should not be turned into a political negotiation tool.

"If the focus is on national stability, it should not be used for political leverage," she stated. Nurhidayah emphasized that Malaysians are more concerned with issues affecting their daily lives, such as the cost of living, employment opportunities, education, healthcare, housing, and the overall economy. Instead of focusing on political maneuvering surrounding party members leaving the government or seeking to bring down the administration, she urged the government to concentrate on addressing these critical concerns.

"People don’t wake up thinking about who wants to leave the government or when Parliament will be dissolved," she added. "They wake up thinking about the price of goods, their family income and their children’s future." Nurhidayah called on political leaders to prioritize these everyday concerns over partisan calculations that could endanger the nation’s stability.
