PAS, PN tumpu 126 Parlimen berpotensi tinggi menjelang PRU16

Malaysian political parties PAS and Perikatan Nasional (PN) are focusing their preparations on 126 parliamentary seats that are believed to hold significant potential ahead of the 2016 general election (PRU16). Annuar Musa, the Chief Spokesperson for PN, mentioned that these 126 seats do not include the Sarawak parliamentary regions.

Although it is not certain that PAS will contest all 126 seats, it is customary for PAS to support any candidates who choose to run. Annuar stated that the decision on which seats PAS will contest will be left solely to the highest leadership of the party.

During the 2015 general election, PN secured 74 parliamentary seats while PAS held control of 43 out of the total 126 seats. In September of last year, PAS Deputy President Amar Abdullah reportedly stated that the party aims to win 80 seats in PRU16 as part of their strategy to return to Putrajaya. He added that PAS initially set a target of winning at least 40 seats before the 2015 election, and ultimately succeeded in achieving 43 out of the 222 seats in the Dewan Rakyat.

The current ruling coalition's tenure will end in December 2027, requiring a general election to be called within 60 days of that date.
