Osun terror alert: Adeleke urges vigilance, tightens security

Olalekan Ajagungbade, a political ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke, has been killed in Osun State. The businessman, known as Emir in political circles, was lured to a motor park in Ile-Ife for a meeting where he was fatally shot in the head. Ajagungbade was battling for control of motor parks in the state against the current leader of commercial drivers, Nurudeen Alowonle.

The loss has created unrest in certain parts of Osun. The Independent National Police Commission (IPI) Nigeria is urging the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to punish those who stormed a Kaduna TV station, where over fifty people were killed and two hundred thousand cattle were stolen over nine months. Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke is requesting the Osun state police command to investigate and arrest everyone involved in Ajagungbade's murder.

In a statement from his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke ordered an immediate end to hostilities at the motor parks and the creation of a Park Management System immediately. Stating the need for tranquility among the public, the governor also directed security forces to restore order in the motor parks and preserve law and order across the state.

He promised to issue an Executive Order for the establishment of the park management system to restore discipline and order in the state.
