NASCAR O'Reilly Series race red-flagged after pit road crash that comes dangerously close to pit crew

A chaotic crash at the NASCAR O Reilly Series Nu Way 225 race on Saturday nearly turned dangerous for the pit crew. As the entire field entered the track for fresh tires, a 10-car collision occurred on pit road, blocking it entirely. The incident began when Rajah Caruth's No. 88 car spun out, leading to a series of crashes involving Rajah Caruth, Brandon Jones, Harrison Burton, Dean Thompson, Jeb Burton, Ryan Sieg, Patrick Staropoli, Jeremy Clements, Nicholas Sanchez, and Anthony Alfredo.

Some drivers sustained severe damage, making their races impossible to continue. The scene on pit road was scary, with multiple vehicles entangled in the collision.

The most alarming aspect of the crash was its proximity to the crew of Brent Crews in the No. 19 car. While Crews was already in the pit to receive maintenance, Sanchez's car hit his right rear, coming within inches of striking rear tire changer Bryan Backus. If Backus had reacted even a second later, an accident could have been far worse. Fortunately, no member of the pit crew was injured in the incident.

Despite the chaos, the race resumed after approximately 20 minutes. This crash marked the second event of the O Reilly Series postseason Chase. At the time, both Jones and Caruth were in contention for the eighth and 12th positions in the standings.
