The defending series champion emerged victorious in the Nu Way 225 Powered by Bobcat and Sauced by Blues Hog, completing his fourth career win, with the most recent victory occurring in last year's championship race at Phoenix. This race marked the second event of the Chase for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.

The highlight of the race was a major pileup on pit road, which occurred as the field navigated the pit lane after Stage 1. The collision involved Nicholas Sanchez and Chase driver Rajah Caruth, with Sanchez's No. 97 car colliding with Brent Crews' No. 19 machine as Crews' pit crew serviced his vehicle. The incident led to nine cars colliding, but thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

Corey Day experienced a 33rd-place DNF in the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet following contact with William Salawich during a late restart with less than 50 laps remaining. The two were racing hard off turn 2 when Day's car spun down the backstretch and collided with Salawich's No. 18 Chevrolet, door-slamming into the latter's car.
