Motorcyclist arrested after ramming traffic policeman in Kota Tinggi

KOTA TINGGI: A 24-year-old motorcyclist is under arrest after allegedly colliding with a traffic policeman who had pulled him over for riding without a helmet, resulting in the officer sustaining a fractured right hand. The incident occurred during a traffic operation conducted by the district police traffic investigation and enforcement division around 10.03am.

Superintendent Yusof Othman, the district police chief, stated that the operation aimed at motorcyclists who had committed traffic violations, such as riding without helmets. The policeman, while directing the motorcyclist to stop, was suddenly rammed into by the rider. As a consequence, the injured officer was transported to Kota Tinggi Hospital, where it was revealed he had sustained a fracture to his right hand.

The investigation into the matter is currently underway under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to reckless and dangerous driving, Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant, and Section 322 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt intentionally.
