Minutes after Boris Johnson, European leaders pass through, Russia strikes Ukrainian train near Poland border

Minutes after Boris Johnson and a train carrying other European politicians had departed, a Russian drone attacked a passenger train near the Polish border on Sunday. The incident occurred approximately 2 kilometers from the border, and no casualties were reported. Ukrainian railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia stated that the diplomatic train had been evacuated as the drone approached and did not sustain any injuries.

The route had recently been adjusted in real-time due to the threat of Russian strikes. Former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt confirmed that the attack was random and senseless, as Johnson was traveling on the train that had left the station shortly before the strike. This attack came amid an intensification of long-range attacks by both Russia and Ukraine, with fighting along the front line largely remaining static.
