Mercedes boss Wolff says long future for 'cucumber cool' Antonelli

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff expressed his belief that 20-year-old Italian driver Kimi Antonelli possesses exceptional talent and maturity, suggesting his potential for a long career in Formula One. Following Antonelli's eighth win of the year, Wolff marveled at the young driver's combination of precocious skills and unexpected composure.

Wolff, who previously guided Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to championship titles, had previously anticipated Antonelli winning the Italian Grand Prix from 19th on the grid. However, the young Italian driver's recent performance in Madrid showcased his extraordinary abilities, leading Wolff to predict that he could stay at the top for two decades.

Wolff attributed Antonelli's success to his innate coolness, comparing it to being "cool as a cucumber," and suggested that his youth would benefit him in the sport. The Mercedes boss emphasized that the young driver appears to "just drive," and his youth may be an advantage. Despite leading the teams' title race by 145 points over Ferrari, Wolff expressed that Mercedes has no intention of slowing down or becoming complacent, as they continue to make progress in the sport.
