Madhuri’s Nandani satellite rehab centre likely in six-eight months: Vantara CEO

A satellite rehabilitation centre for elephant Madhuri is set to be constructed in Nandani village within six to eight months, according to Vantara CEO Vivaan Karani. The facility aims to continue Madhuri's care, including her routine of a 15-km daily walk, hydrotherapy, and a special diet of laddus made from cashew, ragi and other ingredients.

The centre will also accommodate other elephants from nearby areas once Madhuri settles in. Former MP and farmer leader Raju Shetti, who is involved in the process, stated that six acres of land at Nandani math have been allocated for the satellite facility, though a road currently divides the land into two parcels. Efforts are underway to realign the road to maximise the usable area for the facility.

Villagers, once divided over Madhuri's relocation, are now celebrating her return. However, some residents remain reluctant to switch back to their previous network providers, associating the experience with the distress caused by Madhuri's departure.
