Margarita Robles, the Minister of Defence, has defended the unity of the Government following a dispute over the recent influx of irregular migrants into Ceuta. The crisis erupted six weeks ago when around 70,000 to 80,000 people illegally crossed the border from Morocco on July 30 and 31, causing significant unrest in the border city.

The dispute between Robles and her Finance Minister counterpart, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, escalated when Robles claimed that the National Cybersecurity Institute (CNI) had warned of a major influx in the city.

Robles, who oversees the country's intelligence services, insisted on maintaining government unity a day after her department released reports attempting to end the ongoing disagreement within the executive branch. The majority opinion in the government, led by the Minister of the Interior, stated that there was no solid evidence of a threat to Spain's territorial integrity.
