Kyle Larson wins mad Gateway Cup race after 18 cautions, two red flags, and double overtime

After a race filled with chaos and controversy, Bubba Wallace expressed the sentiments of many drivers following the 2026 NASCAR Cup race at WWT Raceway. Wallace, who finished 14th despite spinning twice, detailed the difficulties he faced in an interview with Motorsport.com. The race featured a record 18 cautions and two red flag stoppages before going into double overtime.

Wallace, part of the 23XI Racing organization, was involved in multiple incidents throughout the race. He recounted being knocked out of the top ten by Ross Chastain, and later by Daniel Suarez, who dropped him nearly to 30th place. Wallace fought back to the front, but collided with Chase Briscoe during a four-wide restart battle on Lap 141.

He was then struck directly in the left-front by William Byron, requiring repairs. Wallace also recounted a collision with Josh Berry and Christopher Bell at the exit of Turn 2, which sent him spinning down the backstretch. Despite these incidents, Wallace managed to continue the race. Wallace expressed his frustration, stating, "Everybody hit everything out here today.

Super frustrating and embarrassing for us as Cup drivers. Now you can't help but brake problems. Those are all an issue within themselves, but just running over people, getting in those. I was a part of multiple and it was frustrating. So just is what it is. We're all aggressive." Wallace had no theories for why the race was particularly wild, beyond the sheer number of cautions and incidents.
