KKM semak semula kontrak Perkhidmatan Doktor Udara, penggunaan helikopter

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad has approved a review of all contracts related to Air Medical Services (PDU), including the use of search and rescue helicopters in Long Lellang, Sarawak. The KKM's Chief Health Officer, Dr Mahathar Abd Wahab, stated that this review aligns with the Health Minister's directive following a tragedy that claimed the lives of four KKM staff members and one helicopter pilot on Tuesday.

The assessment will also consider the RM30 daily allowance paid to PDU personnel for each trip. This comes after the Malaysia Trauma Congress 2026 concluded in George Town, where the KKM acknowledged that the use of the four helicopters in the Long Lellang incident was under the jurisdiction of the Public Transport Authority Malaysia (CAAM), which is now conducting an investigation.

The KKM explains that the four agencies involved in managing remote health care deliveries included the Bomba and Rescue Department, police, Royal Malaysian Air Force, and Maritime Enforcement Agency Malaysia. The KKM is conducting a thorough and urgent investigation to determine necessary steps to strengthen safety measures, according to the report.
