KKM semak semula kontrak Perkhidmatan Doktor Udara, penggunaan helikopter

The Health Minister, Dzulkefly Ahmad, has called for a review of all contracts related to Air Doctor Services (PDU), including the use of helicopter ambulances at Long Lellang, Sarawak, which resulted in the loss of five lives on Tuesday. The review, led by Health Director General, Dr Mahathar Abd Wahab, follows the incident that claimed the lives of four KKM staff and a pilot.

Dr Mahathar stated that the assessment is in line with the Ministry of Health's directive after the incident, which claimed the lives of four KKM staff and a pilot. The daily allowance of RM30 for each PDU staff member will also be reviewed during this assessment. The use of the helicopter ambulance in the Long Lellang incident was already under the purview of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), which is investigating the matter.

KKM's medical care for rural patients involves the use of assets from four government agencies to control and continue health care services for rural patients when PDU operations are postponed. These agencies are the Bomb Squad and Emergency Services, the Police, the Royal Malaysian Air Force, and the Maritime Enforcement Agency Malaysia.
