Keralam CM V.D. Satheesan takes a trip down memory lane at alumni meet

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan recently attended an alumni meet at Panangad High School, his former school, where he reminisced about the impact his time there had on his communication abilities. During his address, Satheesan recounted how the school was where he "learned to speak". He attributed his English language foundation, acquired at the Malayalam-medium institution, to the confidence it gave him to deliver speeches in the language, including a lecture at Harvard University.

"Standing here today, I’m at a loss for words. It was the teachers here who encouraged me to read and learn," he said. Upon joining SH College after completing his schooling at the high school, Satheesan initially felt an inferiority complex when listening to other students speak English fluently. However, after keenly listening to them, he realized that they were making many grammatical errors, which were not present in the thorough grammar lessons he received at his former school.

This realization boosted his confidence in speaking English. The alumni meet, inaugurated by Kerala High Court judge Devan Ramachandran, was attended by various government officials, including Ministers N. Samsudheen, Roji M. John, V.E Abdul Gafoor, Hibi Eden, MP, and Deputy Speaker Shanimol Osman.
