Karachi and Other Parts of Sindh to Get Rain as PDMA Issues Weather Alert

The Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert as rain and thunderstorms are anticipated to affect various districts in Sindh from September 13 to 16. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that a monsoon system developed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast and moved westward, bringing the weather system to South Chhattisgarh and nearby areas.

Karachi Division is expected to experience light rain and thunderstorms from September 14 to 16, while several other districts may face dust-thunderstorm rain, according to the PMD.

The Met Office predicted that some areas may encounter moderate to isolated heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, and Tando Muhammad Khan are predicted to receive dust-thunderstorm rain from Sunday evening until September 16. Additionally, areas such as Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Jamshoro might experience light to moderate dust-thunderstorm rain intermittently during the same period.

Sindh Chief Minister's Adviser on Rehabilitation, Giyanchand Essrani, informed all deputy commissioners and relevant departments to remain prepared to respond to any weather-related situation. He also directed the PDMA and Sindh Emergency Rescue Service 1122 to remain vigilant throughout the forecast period. The PDMA urged all concerned departments to take necessary mitigation measures and adopt precautionary steps to prevent any untoward incidents during the expected rain spell.
