Iran-Krieg: Treffen im Oman – Abkommen zur Straße von Hormus geplant

A meeting in Oman is reportedly aimed at finding a solution to the ongoing conflict over the Strait of Hormuz, a key point of contention in the war. According to Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran and Oman are set to sign an agreement on new shipping routes in the strait in the Omani capital, Masqat, on Monday. The Gulf Arab states are also invited to learn about the details of the agreement.

However, Bahrain plans to boycott the meeting. A rapid opening of the strait to international shipping is not expected, as Iran claims that the United States must first agree to conditions, namely an end to the U.S. sea blockade and an end to U.S. military actions. Despite this, the regional meeting with a larger format could lend weight to an agreement between Tehran and the United States, potentially advancing the resolution.

Participants are expected to receive maps with new routes, and details of the agreement, as well as maps of the new routes, will be provided to them, according to the Qatari news outlet Al-Arabi Al-Dujaili, quoting Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The agreement, according to Pezeshkian, will also be submitted to the International Maritime Organization.
