FG, VGN Deepen Partnership on National Security, Economic Development

The Federal Government has committed to enhancing its partnership with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) to bolster national security and economic development, according to the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande Wisdom. During a courtesy visit by VGN Commander-General and National Chairman, James Udoma, to the minister in Abuja, both parties emphasized the importance of collaboration on various fronts.

Olawande highlighted the VGN as a crucial grassroots security organization, contributing significantly to the protection of lives and community safety. He expressed readiness to explore practical areas of collaboration and develop programs that would yield tangible benefits for Nigerian youths and their communities. The minister underscored that this partnership must adhere to legal frameworks and support the constitutional and statutory roles of recognized security agencies.

Acknowledging the daily sacrifices of VGN personnel, Olawande praised their commitment as a testament to patriotism and service to humanity. He described their grassroots presence as vital in addressing emerging security challenges. Recognizing Nigeria's youth as both an asset and a strategic responsibility, the minister emphasized that youth development is intrinsically linked to peace, security, employment, and community development.

He pledged to explore opportunities for youth empowerment, skills acquisition, community development, and volunteerism through joint efforts between the ministry and the VGN.

VGN's Udoma expressed gratitude to the minister for recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of VGN members nationwide. He emphasized that the courtesy visit aimed to strengthen institutional understanding and foster a new chapter of cooperation. Udoma affirmed the VGN's commitment to supporting government and security institutions while respecting their responsibilities.
