Eagles Make Surprising QB Decision for Matchup vs Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles made an unexpected decision for their upcoming match against the Washington Commanders, announcing that Andy Dalton will be the second-string quarterback, while Tanner McKee is set to be the third-string option. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni declined to reveal the decision beforehand, citing competitive advantages as the reason.

He stated, "We don’t have to make that decision quite yet, or announce that decision for competitive reasons," to NBC Sports Philadelphia. The coach explained that he didn't want the opposing team to focus only on preparing one quarterback.

Andy Dalton, who has played for six different teams in the last eight seasons, joins the Eagles in this role. He has experience with similar offensive systems, which he ran while serving as a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers. Meanwhile, Tanner McKee, who was the primary backup last season, has fallen out of favor. The Eagles retained four quarterbacks on their initial roster: Hurts, Dalton, McKee, and fifth-round pick Cole Payton.
