Asia Cup: Indian women's cricket team refuses to accept trophy from ACC head Mohsin Naqvi

The Indian women's cricket team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the ACC chairman from Pakistan, for the second consecutive year after their victory over Sri Lanka. The team, which clinched their record-breaking eighth Asia Cup title, did not participate in the post-tournament ceremonies.

Last year, the Indian men's team also declined to receive the trophy and medals from Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister of Pakistan. The Indian team has yet to receive the trophy, which has remained in the ACC office. Instead, the Indian women's team celebrated on the dais without the physical prize. This year, the team members did not return to the ground after receiving an in-house best fielder medal from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan team received the runners-up cheque from Naqvi, followed by the acceptance of medals from SLC interim chief Eran Wikramaratne. Naqvi left the stadium immediately after presenting the award to Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu, without taking the trophy with him.
