Dangote, Fintiri, traditional rulers attend Bamanga Tukur’s burial

Former Governor of Gongola State and former National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, was laid to rest in Yola on Sunday after a Janazah prayer at the Lamido of Adamawa's Palace Mosque. Thousands of mourners, government officials, and dignitaries, including Africa's richest industrialist Aliko Dangote and the Emir of Adamawa, attended the funeral.

Tukur's remains were interred at his father's family compound in Yola, following Islamic rites. Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, leading a delegation of government officials, described Tukur as a father, mentor, and builder of men. Dangote praised Tukur for his contributions to private enterprise in Northern Nigeria, while Senator Jibrilla Bindow called Tukur a political father.

Tukur died on September 12, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving behind two wives and 18 children, including Alhaji Awwal Tukur, who serves as the Secretary to the Government of Adamawa State.
