Carney to meet with Macron in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon next week

French President Emmanuel Macron will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon next week to discuss energy and defence collaborations. The prime minister’s office confirms that Carney will visit the French territory located off the coast of Newfoundland on September 20th for discussions on aerospace, energy, critical minerals, quantum satellites and supercomputing.

Carney emphasizes that both nations share a history and common values, stating that cooperation is mutually beneficial. Meanwhile, Carney is scheduled to meet with his UK counterpart during a three-day European visit and will address the European Parliament in Strasbourg and participate in the EU's State of the Union address. This trip comes on the heels of Carney's hosting of a two-day investment summit in Toronto.
