‘Biting the hand that feeds’: Celebrities hit back at Rohit Roy for calling TV a ‘dustbin’

Television actor Rohit Roy has recently sparked controversy with his remarks calling the medium a "dustbin" and questioning the conduct of TV actors. Among them is casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who praised television actors for their professionalism in a post on his X account.

Mukesh Chhabra acknowledged that most of the actors in the industry come from television and commended their dedication, discipline and adaptability. He praised the medium for providing actors with discipline, dedication and a career. However, other celebrities such as Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Naman Shaw have strongly disagreed with Rohit Roy's comments.

Bhattacharjee, known for her candid remarks, accused Roy of biting the hand that feeds him and questioned why he remained in the industry if he had such a low opinion of television. She highlighted that television remains a crucial platform for Bollywood stars to promote their films and connect with audiences. Similarly, Naman Shaw, who has been working in the industry for 20 years, pointed out that television has been a significant source of support for his family.

He asserted that when someone criticizes an entire industry based on the actions of a few individuals, it is unfair. Shaw emphasized that while some people may use controversy to gain attention, it is essential to address their behavior individually rather than blaming an entire industry.
