Anglers find barrel with suspected human remains near Machap Water Reservoir

Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar announced the discovery of a barrel with suspected human remains near Machap Water Reservoir on September 13. The barrel, found by three anglers aged 25 to 35 while fishing at the reservoir around 11:40am, was cut open by the anglers who discovered bones inside. Initial investigations revealed the remains had been decomposing for at least three weeks.

Police called upon the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department to lift the barrel and the remains were subsequently taken to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the victim's gender and identity. Authorities urged anyone with missing family members to report to the police and offered assistance in further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
