Working with Getty Images has given me the confidence boost I need to pursue sports photography full time. Here’s what I learnt

Amelie Rudkin, an up-and-coming sports photographer, credits her involvement with Getty Images for giving her the confidence to pursue her passion full-time. After studying the only dedicated sports photography degree in the world at Nottingham Trent University, she landed an internship with the prestigious agency, photographing the Women's Rugby World Cup.

Passionate about sports photography, Amelie began taking photos in her first year of college, inspired by her grandfather's wildlife and landscape photography. After honing her skills through college courses and at NTU, she aimed to capture the essence of sports through black-and-white photography, focusing on textures, rituals, and emotions that often go unnoticed.

Her project has received positive feedback from fellow photographers and university tutors, boosting her confidence that there is an audience for this unique style of sports photography. Despite the challenges of gaining access to sporting events, Amelie remains determined to continue expanding her series across more sports and create a photobook showcasing the character and identity of sports through these often-overlooked details.
