UAE rescuers find 10 more missing after Nepal flood

Since the devastating flash flood struck Nepal last month, UAE rescue workers have uncovered 10 more individuals missing in the country. The UAE Search and Rescue Team, collaborating with Nepali personnel, has recovered a total of 18 people since their arrival on September 4. Mudslides and floods devastated villages in Nepal and the Chinese region of Tibet on August 26, prompting thousands to evacuate their homes.

Search operations have zeroed in on Rasuwa and regions surrounding the Trishuli River. Equipped with advanced technology like drones, the team has also conducted aerial surveys and created three-dimensional maps to aid in locating missing individuals. Emergency aid, including rescue boats, drones, power tools, and technical equipment, was airlifted into Nepal by the UAE, bolstering rescue efforts.

The most recent shipment, the fifth from the Emirates, arrived alongside Nepali rescuers to assist their operations. "UAE teams continue to work alongside the Nepalese authorities, emphasizing that search and rescue operations are progressing according to field priorities and information," stated Hammoud Al Afari, the director of UAE Relief Operations.

"Essential supplies are also being provided to Nepalese teams to bolster their capacity to continue search operations and reach affected areas." The UAE's approach to disaster response emphasizes swift action and providing necessary humanitarian relief and technical assistance to mitigate the impact. At least 1,385 have perished in the flood, with Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority predicting the death toll to increase further. Currently, 5,130 people remain missing, while 13,600 have already been rescued.
