'The real issue is her rising popularity': Marriyum defends Maryam amid criticism over jet use, terrorism remarks

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb defended Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday, amid criticism of her use of a government jet for a private visit and her remarks on Punjab facing terrorism threats from neighboring provinces. She stated that the real issue is not the plane or her statements, but her performance and growing popularity.

Aurangzeb clarified that CM Maryam would cover the costs of her London trip, where she attended her daughter's graduation ceremony. Maryam's claim that Punjab is threatened more by neighboring provinces than countries was met with disapproval, leading the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to pass a resolution demanding action under Article 6 of the Constitution.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister, Shafi Jan, made sexist remarks against Aurangzeb during the assembly session. Aurangzeb criticized Jan's "cheap rhetoric" and denounced PTI's tradition of using foul language against women. She emphasized that terrorists use language to insult people, particularly women, while PTI leaders resort to such tactics.
