‘The Family Stone’ Sequel Sets Returning Cast With Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson and More

A sequel to the hit holiday film The Family Stone is set to reunite many of its original cast members, including Sarah Jessica Parker. According to Deadline, the upcoming movie will bring back the likes of Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams, Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Luke Wilson, Tyrone Giordano, Elizabeth Reaser, Paul Schneider, and Brian White.

However, the original co-star Diane Keaton will not be part of this new installment, as she passed away in October 2025. Her character, Sybil Stone, will still be represented in some capacity, as the film's plot suggests. The sequel promises to pick up twenty years after Sybil's death, with the Stone family gathering once more for the holiday season.

This time, though, a surprise awaits: their father, played by Craig T. Nelson, has invited the woman he's fallen for to meet the family. This twist in the tale is expected to generate plenty of inter-family drama and comedic moments, echoing the charm of the original film. The A.V. Club's Caroline Siede noted that The Family Stone possesses an acquired taste, but is undoubtedly worth experiencing, making this sequel an intriguing prospect for fans of the holiday genre as the season approaches.
