‘The Families Stone’: Rachel McAdams, Claire Danes and Sarah Jessica Parker to Return for Sequel

Searchlight Pictures is set to release a sequel to the 2005 holiday classic "The Families Stone," with the original cast reprising their roles. Tom Bezucha, the writer and director of the first film, will return to both writing and directing. Tom Bezucha, Michael London, Shannon Gaulding, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Alison Benson serve as producers.

The returning ensemble includes Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams, Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Luke Wilson. Additional returning cast members are Tyrone Giordano, Elizabeth Reaser, Paul Schneider, and Brian White. The film's official logline describes how, twenty years after their mother's death, the Stone family reunites for Christmas only to discover their father has invited a new woman to meet the family.

Diane Keaton originally portrayed the family matriarch in the 2005 film and has become a beloved holiday tradition. Taylor Friedman and Daniel Yu oversee the project for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas. The original cast, including Danes, McAdams, and Parker, have all recently starred in successful projects, with Danes nominated for an Emmy, McAdams in a Sam Raimi film, and Parker reprising her role as Carrie Bradshaw in "And Just Like That."
