Richarlison’s move to Vasco da Gama falls through

Tottenham forward Richarlison’s proposed £35 million move to Vasco da Gama has fallen through due to disagreements over personal terms. Sources suggest that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Vasco for the 29-year-old's return to Brazil, but the Brazilian transfer window closing on Friday has increased the likelihood of Richarlison staying at Spurs.

The attacker was initially left out of the club's Premier League squad after his proposed deadline-day move to Everton fell through due to a dispute on personal terms. Richarlison is believed to be exploring his options, including the possibility of being released from the remainder of his current deal, which expires next summer.

However, Tottenham can also implement a 12-month extension clause. Ex-Watford and Everton player Richarlison was the leading scorer in the Premier League last season with 11 goals, helping his club avoid relegation. Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi expressed his disappointment that Richarlison had decided not to stay, stating that the club's decision was not his own.

De Zerbi admitted he had convinced Richarlison to remain with the team, but acknowledges that the club's decision was unavoidable. Despite the setback, De Zerbi remains hopeful that Richarlison could still be part of the team, either by staying on a lower salary or by being brought back on a different deal.
