Regional powers condemn 'treacherous' attack that shut down Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline

The attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline has provoked widespread condemnation from regional powers. The Gulf Co-operation Council, including Qatar and Jordan, strongly condemned the strike, calling it a breach of international law and a threat to regional security. Bahrain also expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, while the Muslim World League described the attack as "treacherous and criminal".

Despite calls for "necessary, decisive measures" to prevent further attacks, Saudi Arabia has not retaliated against Iraq, respecting a request from Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al Zaidi. The pipeline, critical to linking oil production sites and enabling exports from both coasts, has been shut down as a precautionary measure following multiple attacks.

The extent of the damage remains unclear, but technical teams are working to secure the pipeline and assess its safety. This attack follows a series of strikes with Yemen's Houthis, who control much of the country's western coast and strategic islands, posing a significant challenge to Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure.
