Ramanan to coordinate Malaysia-India business platform

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, have agreed to establish a business platform to connect companies in Malaysia and India, according to Human Resources Minister R Ramanan. During their meeting, the leaders discussed the potential benefits of such a platform, which would facilitate networking, collaboration, and investment opportunities between the two countries.

Ramanan emphasized that the platform aims to bring more high-quality investments into Malaysia, creating better-paying jobs for Malaysians. He stated that the platform is not merely about connecting business communities but also about transforming these partnerships and investments into tangible benefits for the Malaysian workforce, such as improved skills, higher incomes, and overall economic growth.

The leaders explored potential areas of closer cooperation between Malaysia and India, including technology, the digital economy, semiconductors, professional services, and manufacturing. They also discussed strategies to strengthen the semiconductor industry, which involves investments, training workers, and linking companies in the supply chain.

Moreover, Anwar and Modi addressed the importance of increasing trade and investment between the two nations, as well as simplifying the process for Malaysian goods to enter the Indian market. Given that India is Malaysia's largest trading partner in South Asia, with trade between the two countries reaching RM79.49 billion in 2025, the establishment of this platform could significantly boost economic ties and mutual growth.
