Ramanan to coordinate Malaysia-India business platform

Malaysian Human Resources Minister R Ramanan is spearheading the creation of a joint business platform between Malaysia and India, according to a report from New Delhi. The platform aims to facilitate networking, collaboration, and investment opportunities between businesses from both nations. During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ramanan and Anwar Ibrahim agreed to pursue this initiative.

The platform is expected to enhance trade and investment ties, particularly in technology, the digital economy, semiconductors, professional services, and manufacturing sectors. Ramanan emphasized that the ultimate goal is to generate more high-quality investments and employment opportunities for Malaysians, thereby improving their income levels.

Both countries also discussed enhancing their semiconductor industry cooperation, which could involve investments and training programs for workers. Additionally, they explored ways to streamline trade and reduce barriers for Malaysian goods entering the Indian market. India remains Malaysia's most significant trading partner in South Asia, with trade volumes reaching RM79.49 billion in 2025.
