Prison personnel among 7 held for supply of phone, SIM card to ex-MP Prajwal Revanna

Seven individuals, including two prison workers, have been charged over allegations of supplying a mobile phone and SIM card to ex-MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently serving a life sentence for rape, at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. The investigation has uncovered a potential broader supply network within the prison walls.

Key suspects in the case include Pratap Rao, Tausif, Siddiq, along with prison officials Prakash and Manjunath. The phone seized from Revanna's cell has been traced to the DJ Halli region, and authorities are probing the involvement of intermediaries, inmates, and prison staff in facilitating its entry and use. Police believe the device was transported to Revanna through a chain involving both inmates and prison personnel.

Siddiq and Taufiq, linked to violence cases in KG Halli and DJ Halli, are suspected to have helped procure the phone. According to police, Revanna allegedly paid around ₹1 lakh for the mobile phone and ₹50,000 for the SIM card. The probe has also revealed SIM cards associated with the network originating from Andhra Pradesh, with one reportedly bought in Punganur.

Authorities are examining call records that suggest communications with multiple women and family members. Financial transactions related to the purchase of the phone and SIM card are also under scrutiny, alongside electronic evidence that could shed light on the inner workings of the communication network within the prison.
