Police still hunting robbers behind RM2.9mil Jalan Ampang condo heist

KUALA LUMPUR: Authorities are still searching for the armed thieves who stormed a condominium on Jalan Ampang and stole RM2.9 million in cash and valuables, according to Wangsa Maju police chief Assistant Commissioner Annas Sulaiman. No new leads have emerged at this point, with the investigation ongoing. The victim, a 28-year-old Chinese national, reported a loss of RM2.9 million after a gang of knife-wielding men broke into his home on Monday afternoon.

The incident prompted a police report the same evening. Officers are also considering the possibility of an inside job, given the condominium's strict security measures. Twelve witnesses have been interviewed so far. The case is being handled under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, which cover gang robbery and gang robbery with a deadly weapon, both of which carry a maximum 20-year prison sentence and caning.
