PN to meet next week to appoint new state chiefs

Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition plans to convene a meeting shortly to designate new state leaders, according to its information chief Annuar Musa. In a Facebook update, Annuar emphasized the coalition's emphasis on enhancing its management and administration methods, in line with its constitution and rules. Following PAS's gathering, a Supreme Council conference will be convened to deliberate on matters, including Bersatu's standing within the coalition, Annuar reported.

The breakdown of political cooperation between PAS and Bersatu in June, following disagreements over Perlis menteri besar's dismissal, interference in Kedah and Kelantan appointments, and opposition to admitting new Malay-Muslim parties into PN, sparked these discussions. The upcoming meeting will also cover preparations for the Melaka state election, which is due within 60 days following the current government's mandate expiring on December 31.

Both Pakatan Harapan and PN are striving to establish a partnership with Barisan Nasional, the latter securing 20 of the 28 state seats. At the national level, PH and BN maintain an alliance, but their relationship weakened after BN formed a pact with PN during the Negeri Sembilan election, leading to a two-thirds majority victory.
