Pimpinan Umno ambil maklum kecenderungan tumpu rundingan dengan PAS

The top leadership of Umno has taken note of the trend towards focusing discussions with PAS, according to Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Deputy General Secretary of Umno. In Kuala Lumpur, the Deputy General Secretary stated that this inclination can be observed in the discussions among representatives during the current Umno General Assembly (PAU), which concludes today.

During the last general elections, discussions were held with both PAS and PN, he said during a media briefing near PAU 2026. However, based on the debates and opinions expressed by representatives, there is a clear inclination to focus discussions with PAS rather than PN. Asyraf said the party leadership will consider the views of representatives before forming a discussion committee.

Earlier, Umno's Kedah branch announced it would begin discussions with PAS and not PN. Meanwhile, Asyraf dismissed the notion that cooperation between the Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan is fragile, stating that Umno remains committed to the coalition formation agreement, which is valid until the dissolution of Parliament, and after that each party is free to determine its own path.

As long as we have not yet reached a term or general election, the basis is that we will not plaster over or change this government with a mere change of prime minister, and we are considering issues of political stability, he said.
