Perpecahan Melayu kurangkan rasa hormat, keyakinan parti di Sabah, Sarawak, kata Khaled

Umno Vice President Khaled Nordin asserts that the fragmentation of Malay politics will diminish respect and confidence in the Malay party on the peninsula, guiding Malaysia's government. Malay political power, he claims, showcased the weakness of the Malay party as a dominant government in Malaysia. If we cannot manage our Malays well, how can we convince our partners in Sabah and Sarawak to continue trusting us in leading Malaysia's government?

He stated during his address at the Umno General Assembly 2026 adjournment, held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. Khaled pointed out that this weakness will hinder the capability and superiority of the Malay party on the peninsula, which serves as the leader and driver of Malaysia's development. The people of Sabah and Sarawak will undoubtedly question whether the peninsula should continue to receive preferential treatment in steering and advancing Malaysia, especially as both regions are now very stable, united, and showing excellent performance.

Khaled believes restoring Malay unity means regaining confidence in the peninsula, showing mutual support, and making it worthy of continuing to guide Malaysia's development. This is why we must complete the unity of Malays, he said. The issue of confidence in Sabah and Sarawak is a focus at the 2026 PAU, as Vice President Mohamad Hasan stated that both regions are now determining forces, and Umno needs their confidence to form the government.

Meanwhile, Khaled announced the proposal to raise the Puteri Umno membership age limit to 40 years old, which will be decided after PRU16, as this matter must be examined comprehensively, including its impact on women and the party.
