Malay disunity will erode Sabah, Sarawak’s confidence in West Malaysian leaders, says Khaled

Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin warned that the disunity among Malays could undermine the confidence of Sabah and Sarawak in the West Malaysian leaders. He expressed concern that the fragmentation of Malay political power could expose the community’s weaknesses, potentially causing East Malaysia allies to lose respect for the West Malaysian leaders.

Khaled posed a critical question: if the Malays cannot manage themselves, how can they convince their friends in Sabah and Sarawak to trust the West Malaysian leadership? He emphasized that since Malaysia's formation, peninsular Malays have been the ones entrusted with leading the nation and spearheading its development. Leaders in East Malaysia were not just watching the infighting among Malays but were also questioning whether West Malaysians should continue to lead the country.

To reassure the governments of Sabah and Sarawak, Khaled stressed that Malay unity is crucial in demonstrating political stability and the need for West Malaysia's leaders to maintain their position in governing the nation.
