One-kilometre stretch of NSE lane closed near Ipoh as landslide precaution

IPOH, September 12 — In a safety precaution, the left lane of the North-South Expressway near a landslide, situated at Kilometre 263.6 on the southbound side, will be closed for a one-kilometre stretch, reported police today. Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin disclosed that the closure would span from Kilometre 262.8 to Kilometre 263.8, with safety cones strategically placed along the route.

He emphasized that no contraflow lane had been implemented, and traffic conditions were being closely monitored. "CCTV cameras at the nearby vista point will be focused on the incident site to provide continuous monitoring of the landslide area and traffic flow along the route," he stated in a statement. Police, PLUS Malaysia Berhad, and other pertinent agencies are ongoingly monitoring the site to ensure the safety of highway users.

Mohd Alwi urged motorists to adhere to instructions and safety signs, to reduce their speed, and to drive cautiously while traversing the area. The Malaysian Highway Authority had previously reported that the slope collapse between the Menora Tunnel and Ipoh had resulted in congestion extending up to 15 kilometres.
