Monaco’s perfect Ligue 1 start ends with Strasbourg draw

Monaco's perfect start to the Ligue 1 season came to an end on Saturday as they suffered a 1-1 draw with Strasbourg. The match saw Strasbourg's Jacobo Ortega put Monaco's Sadibou Sane in front shortly after halftime, but Paris Brunner pulled one back with a well-struck 20-meter shot. This draw ended Monaco's three-match winning run and dropped them to second place, behind Rennes.

German youth international Brunner has now scored five goals in six games for Monaco across all competitions this season. Rennes had briefly taken the lead with a 1-0 victory over Marseille on Friday, but Monaco reclaimed the top spot in the table on goal difference. Lyon and Paris FC both failed to join the leaders on ten points after a goalless draw in Paris and Auxerre secured their first points of the season with a 1-0 win over bottom side Nice.

Cameron Archer's goal for Auxerre marked the youngster's first two appearances for manager Will Still, who signed the player from Southampton on loan. Toulouse fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Lorient, but remained winless so far in the season. Le Havre remain winless after failing to score in a goalless draw against Angers.

Paris Saint-Germain are looking to secure their first win of the domestic season when they travel to Brest on Sunday, having only collected two points from their first three Ligue 1 matches.
