EPL: Alonso calls for Chelsea to defend better

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has called for his team to improve their defense following a 2-2 draw with Hull in the Premier League. This result sees Chelsea concede two or more goals in their first four league matches, with a total of 20 league games without a clean sheet. Joao Pedro scored for Chelsea, but Mohamed Belloumi's two goals for Hull proved decisive.

Alonso expressed dissatisfaction, stating, "We got what we deserved." He criticized his players for losing control after taking the lead and for allowing Hull to equalize. Former defender Ashley Williams noted Chelsea's vulnerability during possession changes, emphasizing their lack of composure when losing the ball. Chelsea has been strong offensively, but Alonso admitted they are better defensively than they were previously, attributing this change to the qualities of his players.
