Marquez snatches San Marino MotoGP sprint ahead of Bezzecchi

MISANO ADRIATICO, Italy – Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez secured victory in the San Marino Grand Prix sprint race on Saturday, edging out his Aprilia rivals. Ducati's Marquez finished 1.068 seconds ahead of Italian Marco Bezzecchi, with Spanish teammate Jorge Martin completing the podium in third place. Bezzecchi, who started the race on pole after setting a Misano track record in qualifying, initially led but was unable to capitalize on his position.

Marquez, riding a factory Ducati, demonstrated a dominant performance throughout the 13-lap event. The 33-year-old racer, aiming for his eighth top-class championship and 10th overall, held a one-second lead after five laps. As championship leader Jorge Martin started from the second row, he climbed to third place halfway through the race.

The competition for the riders' title intensifies among the three contenders, with Martin currently 14 points ahead of Marquez, and Bezzecchi 22 points behind the leader. Bezzecchi is seeking his first MotoGP world title this year, having finished third in the standings last season.
