Man wanted for theft arrested in Philippines after arriving from Dubai

A man sought by Philippine authorities for allegedly stealing qualified goods was apprehended at Mactan-Cebu International Airport on September 8 following a flight from Dubai. The individual, whose identity has not been made public, was taken into custody by officers from the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP) at Terminal 2's arrival area in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

According to the police, the arrest took place under a warrant issued on July 13 by the Regional Trial Court in Bogo City, stemming from a charge of qualified theft with a bail recommendation of ₱58,000 (approximately Dh3,399). The PNP AVSEGROUP conducted the arrest after the man landed from Dubai, immediately informing him of his rights under Philippine law in his understood language and utilizing an alternative recording device as mandated by the Philippine Supreme Court.

The detainee has remained under PNP AVSEGROUP custody for appropriate handling. Police Brigadier General Dionisio Bartolome Jr., director of PNP AVSEGROUP, emphasized that airports are not hiding places for evading justice, asserting that those attempting to bypass the law will face vigilant AVSEGROUP personnel.
