Lungisa has strong case against ANC and Mbalula: Legal representative

Andile Lungisa, the mayoral candidate for the African National Congress (ANC) in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Eastern Cape, claims he has a robust case against the ANC and its secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula. Lungisa has filed legal action against them following his exclusion from the list of Proportional Representative (PR) councillors for the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The ANC failed to submit the names before the Electoral Commission's deadline, causing several candidates from six municipalities in the province to be omitted. Lungisa's legal representative, Sinawo Makangela, stated that Lungisa's removal from the PR list in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro lacks justification. Makangela emphasized that Lungisa was publicly paraded as an ANC candidate in the Metro area, but his name was subsequently removed. The case will be heard in the High Court in Johannesburg on the 26th of this month.
