Lone Detroit Lions player questionable vs. New Orleans Saints

As the Detroit Lions prepare for their 2026 regular-season opener against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, September 13, only one player remains questionable for the game: defensive back Christian Izien. Izien, 26, was listed as questionable by head coach Matt Campbell after being a limited participant in practice for the third straight day due to a groin injury.

Campbell expressed optimism about Izien's progress, stating that he is moving well and seems ahead of schedule in his recovery. However, three consecutive limited practices could put Izien behind schedule, potentially leaving him inactive for the first two games of the season if he misses the opener. Izien has played in 45 games and started 15 during his first three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recording 165 tackles, five passes defended, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

Seven other Lions players were also listed on the injury report, including rookies Derrick Moore, Mekhi Wingo, Keith Abney II, Ennis Rakestraw, Trevor Nowaske, Jimmy Rolder, and Thomas Harper. The Lions and Saints are scheduled to face off at 1 p.m. ET on Fox at Ford Field on Sunday.
