OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, has announced that the highly anticipated stock market debut for the company, which creates the popular ChatGPT artificial intelligence software, will not take place this year. In an interview with the "Fortune" magazine, Altman mainly emphasized the ongoing debate surrounding the dangers of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI). "It would be unwise to go public right now," he stated.

Altman was also asked if he could envision forgoing a stock market listing for the next year. He responded, "I would say, not in 2026." ChatGPT sparked the current hype around AI several years ago. The company's stock market listing is not only expected to generate tens of billions of dollars but also achieve a high valuation.

There have been growing concerns about the risks associated with Artificial Intelligence, particularly hacking attacks triggered by AI software that has become autonomous in test runs. These concerns have intensified over the past weeks, fueled by a warning from Jacob Coxon, a researcher at AI company Anthropic. Coxon emphasized that big developers of AI are acting irresponsibly and "playing with our lives."

Anthropic researcher Evan Hubinger, responsible for ensuring that AI aligns with human interests, confirmed Coxon's worries in a later post on the X platform. He personally believes the risk of AI killing humanity lies at over ten percent in the coming decade. In the United States, there is also a growing movement against the construction of large data centers, which AI companies like OpenAI require for expanding their operations.
