Timbalan Presiden Umno Mohamad Hasan has proposed holding a special election in Terengganu to test the sincerity of PAS in promoting Malay unity and proving their commitment to political understanding. If this formula proves successful, it could serve as a model for Malay unity ahead of the 2016 general election. Mohamad suggested that the success of this sincerity test could be used as a model for Malay unity ahead of the 2016 general election.

He urged that everyone should share the benefit of the results, rather than just a few who may be overly eager. Mohamad stated that a one-size-fits-all approach to the election strategy would not work, as each state has its unique political scenario. For instance, Selangor or Johor have their own narrative, while in Negeri Sembilan, avoiding mutual entanglement between Malay parties was prioritized after Umno secured seven majority Malay seats in the previous election.

Therefore, the presidency (Zahid Hamidi) mandated discussions tailored to each state's unique circumstances. These discussions were beneficial and should not be missed, as they maintain our honor and prevent us from compromising it, he said. In the 2009 state election, Umno and PAS had informally collaborated in election strategies, which helped both blocs win a combined 26 out of 36 seats, forming a state government.
