JUI-F agrees to join PTI-led multi-party opposition moot

On September 12, 2026, the JUI-F agreed to join the PTI-led multi-party opposition meeting (MPC) organized ahead of the party's planned long march to Islamabad on September 27. A delegation from the PTI met with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence to persuade the religio-political party to participate in the opposition drive. The PTI delegation included party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, general secretary Salman Akram Raja, and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser.

Following the meeting, Barrister Gohar stated that opposition parties would adopt a joint strategy within parliament, emphasizing that all political parties would be consulted on national issues. He also mentioned the formation of an MPC to deliberate on significant matters, including the creation of new provinces. Barrister Gohar reassured that the planned long march would remain peaceful and aimed at seeking justice.

JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri revealed that discussions covered consultations on the MPC's formation and the creation of new provinces. He noted that a wave of unrest had impacted Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and these concerns would be addressed at the MPC. Haideri called for patriotic political parties to collaborate and establish a joint strategy, acknowledging that political forces inside and outside parliament would be approached for participation.

The opposition alliance stated that the PTI delegation and JUI-F chief met to discuss the MPC and the PTI's September 27 protest call, with a focus on strengthening the country's constitutional and democratic systems. They also agreed to hold a review meeting on September 15 to assess progress and contact political parties promptly to convene the conference. Additionally, consultations with Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the September 27 march were held, with instructions for the PTI to finalize preparations.
